• nekrogoblikon - awesome fucking metal band, they sing about goblins and dragons and shit, and they have a business casual goblin! they rule so you should check them out!!!
• misfits - i just love the misfits ok. and i love glenn danzig’s voice, sue me.
• my chemical romance - MCR ROX!!!
• against me! - esp their earlier stuff, reinventing axl rose is a banger fucking album. but i appreciate their later stuff too, laura jane grace was so real for every single song she’s ever written
• bad religion - what can i say. i just really like bad religion. i saw them oct '23 and it was fucking amazing they put on a great live show. fav album is probably the empire strikes first
• 18 fevers - absolutely fucking awesome death punk disco band from seoul. go give them a listen theyre great
• operation ivy - operation ivy rules!! this is gonna sound kind of basic of me but sound system is probably my favorite song of theirs
• old 97s - my favorite alt country band!!! my fav album of theirs is too far to care
• afi - honestly, i really only listen to their stuff up until about 2000. i have listened to sing the sorrow a bit tho. i got into them bc someone working at the auntie anne’s at a mall near where i live told me i should listen to all hallows ep when he saw my misfits tshirt. and he was fucking right because all hallows ep slaps
• refused - punk band from sweden. fav albums: shape of punk to come & war music. when they played new noise in the bear I went :O
• propagandhi - love propagandhi. fav album: how to clean everything
• tsunami bomb - i love tsunami bomb so fucking much theyre a great band! fav songs: take the reigns & jigsaw
• the anchor - fucking awesome metalcore band from denver. so great love them lots go check them out!!
• jhariah - broooooo i love jhariah so fucking much they have this concept album called 'the great tale of how i ruined it all' that i was sooooo into when i was like fourteen. holds a special place in my heart

MOVIES

• rocky horror picture show - THEE movie of all time
• brokeback mtn - other thee movie of all time. love brokeback mtn, love when gay people are sad and having sad gay sex on the mountain with the sheep
• the 00s xmen trilogy - magneto being the rightest dude ever, wolverine wolverineing, divorced erik&charles, STORM, etc etc
• eve's bayou - this is the kind of movie that blows your mind and sticks w/ you for ever and ever. i cannot explain it just go watch it if you haven’t seen it
• lotr + hobbit movies - the lotr movies are just really good and the hobbit movies were essential to my middle school self. kili was my first crush and i think the root of my taste in men if i’m being completely honest with myself
• the old guard - fuck this movie is soooo good. its got charlize theron and epic fight scenes and its the perfect length (2hrs) and it is one of my favorite movies ever. its on netflix (and pirating sites too!) so go watch it!!
• ganja & hess - my pretentious fave. love this movie its so good. again, can't really describe it you just gotta see it
• rrr - a telugu-language film set in the 1920s about a pair of revolutionaries under the british raj. again, you kind of just have to see it. and you MUST see it, its literally essential viewing

SHOWS

• black sails - ohhhh my fucking god. black sails show of all time! if you haven’t seen it what are you even doing here it’s so good go watch it! pirates. revolution. absolutely bonkers amazing characters and character arcs. the THEMES AND MOTIFS!! THEY'RE TRAPPED IN THE NARRATIVE THEY CAN'T ESCAPE. 4 seasons of john silver getting progressively hotter, and a finale you will never stop thinking about. if i could only recommend one show to people for the rest of my life, it would be this one
• riverdale - truly a masterpiece of modern television. society isn’t ready but someday y'all will see the truth
• lost - truly one of the best tv shows ever ill fight you on that. everybody give it up for desmond hume, the man of the century!!
• elementary - sooooo much better than bbc sherlock. better writing, better characters, better cases, AND it has lucy liu!!
• the x files - what can i say, i’m a sucker for some good old scully&mulder shenanigans. msr 4 lyfe!!
• the 100 - its just so so much fun. only thru season 3 tho :|
• the l word - i am kissing shane on the mouth. ily babygirl
• the bear - bruh. this show is so good. 2x06 BLEW MY MIND. literally came out of that episode like 'i want to make television like this'

BOOKS

• the great gatsby - it’s about the MOTIFS and the THEMES and the BEING DOOMED BY THE NARRATIVE. (also melodrama by lorde is about this book. yes the whole album. don’t ask me how i know i just do.)
• wicked - i read wicked when i was waaaaay too young and it was a formative experience
• les mis - again. the themes. the motifs. the grandiose narrative. the animal symbolism. the horrific 50-page tangents about waterloo or the paris sewers.
• jurassic park - the novel is CRIMINALLY underrated. i LOVE this book it goes so much deeper into the science and i love it
• lotr + the hobbit - these books made me want to write and create worlds myself, so they hold a special place in my heart. also see above entry about the hobbit movies.
• paradise - i cant even with this book. its sooooo fucking good. its my fav toni morrison book by far and it turns my brain into fucking soup. in a good way

COMICS

• v for vendetta - oh my god. brain exploded. i literally have a v patch on my patch pants that’s how much i love this comic
• the sandman - brooooooo!! what! so fucking good my favorite volumes are a game of you, brief lives and the wake
• saga - UGH! i started reading right at the beginning of the hiatus and it was PAINFUL. i’m so glad there’s new issues coming out now. the art is so good and the worldbuilding is so good and the characters and just everything. i love it
• henry & glenn forever - it's just really fucking funny ok
• the true lives of the fabulous killjoys (both national anthem and california) - look. i love danger days. i love the fab four. the comics are great and fun and i love them too. if you’re an mcr fan and you haven’t read them i highly recommend
